The Wolgan Seam, 1.8 – 2.4 metres thick, consists of high volatile, low sulphur, medium hard coking coal with high fluidity. Within the 3,500 hectare Wolgan MLA this seam lies at 160 – 440 metres below surface on the western margin of the Blue Mountains plateau, 30 km NNE of Lithgow.
